How did you meet?
Even though we were a year apart in at Nutley High School, we didn't start dating until Sophomore year in college at Montclair State University. Johnny worked at the Franklin Steakhouse at the time with my best friend and he was able to introduce us at a party together, and the rest is history!
How did you get engaged?
Johnny was finally able to pop the question after 7 years of dating at Garrett Mountain in Woodland Park. He originally wanted to have a big engagement planned, but when he finally got the ring he couldn't wait any longer! It was about a day after he picked it up and was too nervous to hold onto it anymore we took an impromptu trip up to the top of Garrett Mountain with my mom where he was able to ask me.
Why did you choose your venue?
We only toured about 3 wedding venues but when we saw The Westmount Country Club we knew this is where we had to get married. It was absolutely beautiful and it held even more sentimental value since it was on Garrett Mountain where we got engaged.
Tell me about your favorite wedding details, and how you came up with them?
We wanted to do something not as traditionally with our guest book, so we had a heart shaped piece at the seating chart where guests were able to sign their names on a smaller heart with a message for us and its something we will now have forever. Also, my second look with Johnny without my overskirt are some of our favorite photos and moments from that day.
Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?
The only thing I was nervous about was the weather! I was checking November 4th’s weather for about 2 months before our wedding everyday, LOL! But overall we both weren’t that nervous at all. Since we were together for 9 years by the time we got married, we were more excited to finally make this an official, forever thing! The comfort of RDP’s team made the morning and getting ready photos so fun and comfortable it made the morning go so smoothly.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
Our favorite moment of the day was definitely seeing each other as I walked down the aisle. Seeing how full our church was with friends and family was such a beautiful moment that we will cherish forever. When we were sitting up at the altar we truly felt it was just the two of us sitting there alone and it felt amazing. The church was filled with so much love we were beyond happy.
Did anything go wrong?
If something went wrong we totally didn’t know about it. It truly was the most perfect day of our lives.
How did you feel at the end of the day?
We felt so much love by the end of the day. The adrenaline of the whole day took exhaustion out of it, and we just wanted to relive the whole day all over again.
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding, right now?
Enjoy every single moment of the day. From getting ready in the morning with your bridesmaids & groomsmen to the ride to the venue from the church, to the cake cutting. It really does go by extremely fast for all the planning that you do so take in all the little moments you have together. At first we wanted to be on the party bus after the church with our wedding party, but we decided at the last minute to ride in the Rolls Royce together and it was the best decision we made. Being able to have that alone time together before the reception was so special. Also, don’t leave each other’s side all night! We experienced everything together throughout the whole night and we loved every second of it.
What did you like most about working with Ralph DePiro Photography? Is there anything you would have changed about the work/technique/etc.?
We truly believe our day would not have been as special as it was without Ralph and his team. From the moment they arrived for our getting ready photos all the way to the last picture of the night they had a plan. They made us feel so comfortable throughout every picture that was being taken and we love every single photo. The support that Ralph gave us since we booked him was AMAZING. He always made time for us whenever we wanted to hop on a quick call to discuss timeline or detail shots we were looking for and I couldn’t picture our wedding without him and his team. There isn’t one thing I would change about RDP. His experience is hall of fame level and we will be recommending RDP to all friends and family in the future!
