How did you meet?
Mike and I met completely unexpectedly! I was fresh out of college looking for a job when a couple of hockey friends told me a local hockey store was hiring and to use that as a stepping stone to get into the hockey world. Mike was already working at the store as head of the lacrosse section in the store. I walked in for an interview and the minute Mike and I looked at each other I knew we had a connection. After a couple months of working together Mike had asked me to a super bowl party and the rest is history.
How did you get engaged?
Mike always knew how much I loved Christmas! (who doesn't LOL) We had been dating for four years at the time and mike was trying so hard to wait till christmas eve, we always celebrate christmas eve with all our friends. Well the day before christmas eve he couldn't wait any longer! We had been standing in our kitchen and Mike has never been good at keeping gifts from me so he asked me if I wanted a gift. I replied with yes. He handed me a yeti that I've been asking for and I replied with that's it? He turned around and got down on one knee with the ring! I was so excited! We had a big celebration that night with all our friends and continued to celebrate with family for christmas eve and christmas day.
Why did you choose your venue?
I had never been a girl that wanted the big ballroom venue, it just didn't fit my personality. I looked at a couple different venues and just never got that feeling or vision that I wanted to get married here. Mike was away for lacrosse and I told him I was going to look at perona farms. So I went with my parents to go tour it. My mom had already been to every venue tour with me, the moment we pulled up she knew I fell in love. I walked into the barn and said this is it this is where we are getting married and I signed the paperwork that day. (Mike had no idea about me sign the paperwork that day) I text him and said “Hi we are getting married at Perona farms on thanksgiving eve” he replied with a “hard no” but every bride get their way!
Tell me about your favorite wedding details, and how you came up with them?
I had a couple favorites! A couple I had was to always incorporate our personality. My favorite was including our dog somehow I thought of multiple different ways to add him into our wedding. Our save the dates had us with him in our picture. We also included him as our bar sign. We did a picture or him with “open bar! Drinks on me! Love, Mack “ it was a big hit! Another favorite detail I did was doing group photos with every table. That came out so good! It was special to get photos with all our different groups of friends and family together with us.
Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?
Nervous was an understatement! I was so nervous from the moment I woke up that day! But I feel like that can be any bride. I felt like anytime I actually felt comfortable was having time with my bridesmaids and my mom they all worked together to just keep talking to me about different things that distract me from one of my biggest moments in life.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
My favorite moment had to be my first look with Mike. We did it privately, it was amazing. Honestly forgot the Ralph and his team were in the moment with us. We had time to talk about each others day and cry happy tears about how great each us looked. It was awesome to have this time together and just feel comfortable before walking down the aisle.
Did anything go wrong?
One thing that I had go wrong was our menu cards but honestly I just laughed it off. I come from a customer service background and I know sometime mistakes happen. If anything else did go wrong I would have no idea! Because in my eyes everything was perfect.
How did you feel at the end of the day?
The end of the day was amazing! Mike and I felt so loved with everyone around us!
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding, right now?
Advice I would give is don’t settle for anything! Take your time with everything. I was a last minute bride and I wish I wasn’t everything in my wedding was perfect but I wish I took more time and invested time in planning. Also to every bride make sure you take every type of angle picture in your dress lol! Sit down, stand up, every type of side profile! It definitely helps finding that “special dress”.
What did you like most about working with Ralph DePiro Photography? Is there anything you would have changed about the work/technique/etc.?
Oh my! I can not literally say how much Ralph and his team made everything perfect! I’ve know Ralph for multiple years through family friends. A little secret I’ve been holding from Ralph is that I scheduled my wedding date around the days he had available just so he can be my photographer. From the moment I got engaged I knew Ralph and the team would be my photographer. I got so many compliments from friends and family (that didn’t even know Ralph). My parents were so surprised on how professional Ralph was around my family. During my engagement shoot with Ralph he made everything so perfect that I knew I was in great hands. Throughout my first look on my wedding he made everything feel so natural. Ralph would put Mike and I in different position and I would give him the “eye roll”. He said ”ky please trust the process” and I’m so glad I did because those pictures are some of my favorite! I’ve texted Ralph with multiple questions asking for advice on the wedding. Ralph went beyond his job the whole day with us and I truly can’t thank him enough for everything he did for us.
