How did you meet?
Michael and I have known each other in High School. He was a senior when I was a freshman but we didn’t officially meet or hang out until after I graduated. I was working at a local pizzeria as a waitress and the boss needed a driver. I tried contacting a few friends but no one was available. Michael came in and after working for a few weeks things just started happening naturally.
How did you get engaged?
After dating for 7 years, his cousins Pete and Shebonie helped him set it all up. I was at a bridal shower earlier. The plan was to go to dinner at Rails. I think every couple has somewhat of an argument beforehand cause that was us. The 4 of us ate dinner and the manager came over and asked who Pete was. The story was Pete sold a car to the owner and as a thank you we were getting a full private tour of the restaurant from top to bottom. Michael had to go use the “restroom” but he went to the cave room in the speakeasy. Not thinking anything I continued the tour and when we got to the room, he was standing between 2 large balloons that said Will you Marry me? With roses, champagne, and candles. I was frozen. Pete had to give me a push to walk to him. I was in complete shock on how he pulled it off.
Why did you choose your venue?
We planned for a long engagement because I was about to start grad school. We at least wanted to book the venue in advance. Valley Regency was our first stop. He has a large family and we have been to plenty of venues in the area. When we laid our eyes in the ballroom we knew that was it. It was private, updated, the food is incredible and the staff is amazing from beginning to end.
Tell me about your favorite wedding details, and how you came up with them?
My favorite wedding detail was adding our Parents wedding photo beside our cardbox and right beside it putting my mom and his mom’s hats that they wore on their wedding day. They no longer have their dresses to put some material on my dress so this was a nice personal touch to incorporate in a different way.
Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?
We have been together for 11 years and engaged for almost 4 of those years. I was just so excited to finally marry my soulmate and have our family and friends be a part of our day.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
I have a few. My first was doing a first look with my Dad. He cried like a baby when he saw me in my dress and when I gave him his personalized cufflinks. My second was walking down the aisle and seeing Michael waiting for me. My last one was dancing the entire night with everyone at the reception.
Did anything go wrong?
Not one single thing!
How did you feel at the end of the day?
Happy and relieved that everything was perfect and the planning was finally done. I truly felt 30 pounds lighter come off me.
What advice would you give couples planning their wedding, right now?
I cannot stress this enough. It is YOUR day. You are not going to make everyone happy. You worked hard to put this one day together for YOU. Do what YOU want and how YOU want things. If people make an input just agree with them but choose what YOU think is right.
What did you like most about working with Ralph DePiro Photography? Is there anything you would have changed about the work/technique/etc.?
Well I don’t want to say like. I LOVED everything about Ralph from the very beginning of planning to the very end. He and his team are incredible. After we booked at Valley Regency, he was our next phone call. The easiest decision to capture our special day. I sent him a bunch of photos that I was wanting and hoping for and he delivered. His communication was on point and replied back almost instantly.
