How did you meet?

Prison…jk that’s what Alex tells everyone! lol we initially met way back when we were in high school through a mutual friend. We kept in touch for a short period of time in college before drifting apart. Fast forward 8 years later, not a word to each other, and much regret of not taking Ryane to prom, Alex slid into her DMs with a "hey what's up, long time no see!" They exchanged a few words and made plans to hang out when Ryane returned from her summer trip to Italy. A few weeks later, while planning her trip in Stay Gold Cafe with her friend, Ryane turned around and said, "I think Alex is sitting behind us." She mustered up all the courage she had to tap him on the shoulder and sure enough it was him! He was having lunch with his mom (who later told Ryane it was fate. Alex had just been telling her about Ryane when she tapped his shoulder). Again, they made plans to hang out when she returned. Long awaited plans were finally made- Alex drove to Philly to spend the day galavanting about with Ryane. Long lost friends rekindled their friendship on this rainy day filled with laughter and the rest is history.

How did you get engaged?

We took a trip to Bar Harbor, Maine. Knowing Ryane’s love for boats, Alex rented one for the day and popped the big question on July 24, 2020.

Why did you choose your venue?

The Ryland Inn has an aesthetic unlike any others we visited. We knew it was the right place from the moment we walked in! The ballroom is bright and airy with an entire wall of glass doors and windows. We wanted an elegant rustic vibe which it totally exceeded…not to mention the restaurant was voted top in NJ for many years in a row…good food was very important!

Tell me about your favorite wedding details, and how you came up with them?

The Jersey Boardwalk dessert station! It consisted of all the summertime staples we grew up with living at the Jersey shore…zeppoles, soft pretzels, and waffles& ice cream…it was definitely a hit!

Were you nervous? How did you squash the nerves?

We wouldn’t say nervous…but there were definitely excited butterflies for everyone!

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

Alex’s favorite moment was our first dance- “everything else in the room seemed to fade away. It felt like there was no one else in the room except us!” Ryane’s favorite moment was “the minute the doors to the ceremony opened and I heard the bridal march and saw how full our church was, I was immediately overwhelmed with so much love. My eyes were locked on Alex and I realized this was the exact moment we had been waiting for.”

Did anything go wrong?

We hope not! haha to our knowledge everything was absolutely perfect! The day went smoothly and everyone reached out in the following week to tell us how beautiful our wedding was. With the entire day being such a blur, it was so nice to hear from so many of our guests that everything was amazing!

How did you feel at the end of the day?

EXHAUSTED, but excited! Our day was absolutely incredible and magical. We were so sad that our wedding day was over, especially after almost 2 years of planning. However, we are beyond thrilled to start this next chapter of our lives together!

What advice would you give couples planning their wedding, right now?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Communicate always, have fun while planning, and love each other more and more each day. When your special day comes, take all the opportunities to step away with your new husband/wife and admire all the hard work you put into planning the perfect event. Knowing all those people are there to celebrate you both and your love is the best feeling ever!

What did you like most about working with Ralph DePiro Photography? Is there anything you would have changed about the work/technique/etc.?

HIRE RALPH NOW. He immediately caught our attention with his organizational skills and well thought out timeline for our day. The last thing you want to do as a bride/groom, is feel like you need to be in charge of remembering everything. Have no fear…Ralph and his team does this for you! Not to mention- they’re fun, easy to work with, and very skilled photographers!
